Fix common setup and audio problems

Resolve missing permissions, silent audio, expired device codes, locked tools, and stalled interview guidance.

Estimated time: As needed
01

No audio is detected in the browser

Stop the session, verify the correct input device in system settings, and restart. For Shared interview audio, select the exact interview tab and enable Share audio.

02

The Mac says permission was declined

Quit Climbora fully. In System Settings → Privacy & Security, enable Screen & System Audio Recording and Microphone for Climbora, then reopen it. If macOS still uses the old decision, remove and re-add the permission before relaunching.

03

A desktop code is rejected

Generate a new code in Climbora for Mac, confirm you are signed into the intended account, and enter the code within 10 minutes. Each code works only once.

04

Guidance does not appear

Confirm the session is live and the correct meter moves. Speak a complete test question, pause, and wait for transcription. Use Typed practice to distinguish an audio problem from an account or AI-service problem.

05

A toolkit or Interview Copilot is locked

Check that your subscription is active and that the feature is included in your plan. Sign out and back in if the displayed plan is stale.

06

The browser cannot share system audio

Use current Chrome or Edge, choose a browser tab when possible, and enable its audio checkbox. If the conferencing app is native, use microphone/speaker mode or Climbora for Mac.

07

The desktop app crashes or behaves unexpectedly

Quit it from the menu bar, reopen it, and retry once. If the problem repeats, note the action that triggered it and use the browser Interview Copilot for the immediate session.

GOOD TO KNOW

Tips for a smoother experience

  • Test the exact call setup—browser, headset, and audio route—before an important interview.

  • Typed practice is the fastest way to confirm account access and response generation.

  • When reporting a problem, include the screen, selected mode, and exact error text, but never include an API key or password.
